Who We Are

Just as our community has grown and changed so has our department. We now serve our district, with when fully staffed, 18 full time employees as well as a group of dedicated volunteers. Three shifts of five firefighters work 24 hour shifts assisted by the Chief, Deputy Chief and Captain/Mechanic who work an eight to five schedule. Three pumper/tankers, four tankers, one heavy rescue and two brush trucks serve the district. We have built and maintain a dedicated training facility capable of allowing firefighters to preform everything from high level rescue to live fire scenarios. Our facility is often used for training with mutual aid departments which provides the opportunity for our organizations to work together to better serve our response areas.  As mentioned earlier Northeast Fire serves the largest response area in Guilford County. Our district has changed drastically recently with the surge in housing developments and industrial growth primarily in the northern area of our territory. The remainder of the area is very rural and primarily used for farming with no positive water sources which provides challenges when emergencies arise. Growing and changing to meet the needs of our area is always a challenge, from fifty calls in 1972 to an average of 1200 per year now we do our very best to adapt to the challenges as they come.
